1980s Gianfranco Ferre Red Cocktail Dress With Pink Fan Detail

This arresting 1980s crimson silk cocktail dress by Gianfranco Ferre is of excellent quality and features a show-stopping design. The piece combines stylish simplicity with flamboyant, innovative tailoring. At first glance we see a knee length bandeau cocktail dress in soft red silk crepe with a classic hourglass silhouette. The look is consolidated with a silk satin sash in fuchsia pink that ties neatly at the front (or back if desired). The reverse of the dress is by contrast dramatic and unexpected, with a spectacular upwards facing ruffle in layers of tightly pleated fuchsia silk that fans out from the mid back across the shoulder blades. The look is both dynamic and feminine. The dress is fully lined in silk and has a concealed zip fastening to the left.
